I wanted to make sure I didn't go too far down as to keep the original printing on the plates. With the copper being nickel plated I also needed to polish the pipes prior to coating. The lathe made quick work of that and they really came out looking great. I was almost tempted to leave them just like that!

But to keep with the colour scheme I had in mind I went ahead with the nickel plating. I also had my original copper blocks for my GPUs coated. The pipes needed another polishing session after the nickel coating and they came out better than I had ever anticipated. Time well spent getting that finish. I also sent the frame and all panels for powder coating. The plate can be seen below the polished pipes.

I could finally start final build and I took my time with it. It had taken me nine months to get to this point so even though I was itching to get it all done, I took my time to make sure it all went together smoothly. In the process I found that the powder coating process had slightly warped the frame, possibly due to the heat in the baking process, the centre panel had was misaligned by close to 2cm, this was remedied by me stretching the frame out, so I ended up building not only a PC desk, but a gym too.. after a few tweaks it was all lining up again.

And so finally the original image in my mind turned into reality, one that would not have come to be if it had not been for my loving and ever so patient wife, Duncan and the use if his workshop with all its toys and of course some of the crazy, and I mean that in the best possible way, people I have come into contact with through Bit Tech that inspired and motivated me through this build!
